Maltese Rock-centaury
The Maltese Rock-centaury or Widnet il-Baħar has been the national plant of Malta since 1973. Its natural habitats are cliffs and coastal valleys. It is now threatened by habitat loss. To prevent this, it is now being cultivated in gardens and used in road embellishment.
Its leaves are succulent. It flowers from May to July.
