Maltese Wall Lizard
In Malta there are four sub-species of the Maltese Wall Lizard or Filfola Lizard. All of these sub-species are endemic to Malta.
The male has bright colours, but the female and the young usually have a dull brownish colour. The males show territorial behaviour. Infact, when another male enters the territory, it puffs up and raises its head. They perform a similar behaviour to attract a female. They mate in Spring. Usually one or two eggs are laid, which eventually hatch between June and mid-August.
