The Pitch Clover

Picture
The Pitch Clover (Silla tal-Mogħoż in Maltese), is another very common flower, found in most habitat-types.

Its flowering period is from February to May.

Sometimes it is referred to as Pitch Trefoil, because of its leaves.  The leaves are trefoil, that is consist of three, similar, lance-shaped leaflets. If the leaves were crushed, they would emit a smell that resembles pitch.
