The Bear's Breeches

The Bear's Breeches (Ħannewija in Maltese) is a herbaceous, perennial plant native to the Mediterranean region.

It is found in maquis habitats, disturbed ground and sheltered woody areas.

It flowers in late spring or early summer.  The flowers are tubular, whitish, lilac or rose with spiny green or purplish bracts. It has very large leaves.
